We are a group of family practices located through Massachusetts, focused on bring the best care to our patients and community.

Our doctors and staff are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous diseases and conditions, and manage both common and complex problems. They are also trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat a wide variety of ailments affecting patients of all ages.

Additionally, we work with our communities, which range from Cape Cod though Boston, to the north shore and out to western Massachusetts, in the public health field. We work in the science of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention.

A Unique Family and Community Centered Philosophy

Many people envision addicts as people who should be locked away in treatment facilities. However, P.S. Kishore, M.D., M.P.H., founder and Medical Director of Preventive Medicine Associates, had a vision that changed the course of addiction medicine. He believes that addiction is a primary care illness and should be treated as such in the community. His vision began with his first practice, a one room office in Brighton in 1996 and has grown to 27 sites throughout the state serving more than 12,000 patients per year. Dr. Kishore believes that addiction should be treated with the same vigor as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and all other primary care illnesses those who are suffering with addiction should be given the same respect as individuals with the aforementioned diseases.

In addition to providing de-addiction services outpatient through our many locations, Addiction Medicine Associates’ patients can be treated at home provided that they enter our program with a responsible caregiver, often the friend or family member who brought them for detox treatment. All of the offices perform an initial intake consisting of a medical physical and a bio-psycho-social. The patients then return for several follow-up visits until they are clean from all substances of abuse. After patients have been detoxed, they enter our sobriety maintenance program which consists of continued primary care follow-up as well as individual and group counseling services to prevent relapse and help the individual develop a healthy, sober lifestyle. At Addiction Medicine Associates we treat the whole person and allow them to maintain their positions in the community. We also assist the family, friends, and other sober support people in the individual's life, helping them understand, manage, and cope with their loved one's addiction.

It is important to know that addiction does not discriminate. An individual with an addiction to alcohol, opiates, prescription medications, heroin, cocaine, and other substances can be the lady driving your bus, a local politician or member of your church, your well-educated next door neighbor, or a homeless man asking for change on the side of the road. The face of addiction crosses all lines of age, gender, race, religion, class, and occupation.
